Logging, Currency & Documents to Carry

Lesson 04 of 25·Reading · 9 min

To act as PIC carrying passengers you must meet 61.57 recency: three takeoffs and landings in the preceding 90 days (to a full stop at night, in the same category/class). A flight review every 24 calendar months (61.56) keeps the certificate exercisable.

On your person or accessible you must carry your pilot certificate, a valid government photo ID, and the appropriate medical certificate (a commercial pilot exercising commercial privileges generally needs at least a second-class medical; first-class for ATP/airline PIC). Log time accurately — commercial employers and 135 operators scrutinize logbooks.
